100 Meter Dash
Valley Wetzel's Casey Pingley powered away from the field to win convincingly by 0.18 seconds in 11.41. Charleston Catholic's Will Dobbins was the only other runner to be under 11.70. 3rd through 5th were decided by just 0.09.

Charleston Catholic's Michael Robinson sped away from the field to win by 0.2 seconds. Valley Wetzel's Casey Pingley got away from Fayetteville's Jonathan Gore for 2nd. Only three runners made it in under 24 seconds.

400 Meter Dash
Pocahontas' Tanner Graham took control and pulled away down the stretch to win in 51.37. St. Marys' Derek Renner held off Doddridge's Daniel Plaugher and Wheeling Central's Carter Huffman for 2nd. Only those four ran under 53.

800 Meter Run
A year after the top 5 were all under 2:02, no one made it in under 2:03. Wirt's Josh Quinn pulled away from the field down the stretch to win by nearly 2 seconds. His 2:03.05 was one of only two runs under 2:05. Williamstown's Aaron Lockhart was the only other runner to eclipse the 2:05 barrier. Two others were under 2:06.

1600 Meter Run
Richwood's Andrew Shaffer took the field out hard, coming through the first lap in 64. By the end of lap 2, Shaffer still held a slight lead over Buffalo's Evan Childers and St. Marys' Charlie Drazba. Doddridge's Caleb Moore was close behind. At the end of three laps, Shaffer and Childers were battling for the lead. Drazba had dropped off by 2 seconds, and Moore had dropped off by 4 seconds. Doddridge's Daniel Clevenger had closed to within a second of Moore. On the final lap, Shaffer pulled away for the 2 second win over childers. Moore used a furious last 100 meters to just squeak by Drazba at the line for 3rd as the front four all went under 4:40. Clevenger also ran under 4:43 to take 5th. Three others made it in under 4:50 in the battle for 6th, won by Charleston Catholic's A.J. Laska.

3200 Meter Run
Richwood's Andrew Shaffer, Doddridge's Caleb Cade, and Buffalo's Evan Childers took the field through in 1:11. A number of runners came through in a strung-out pack of 1:12-1:13 times. At the end of the 2nd lap, Childers and Shaffer were together at the front in 2:25. Doddridge's Caleb Moore had moved into 3rd, with St. Marys' Charlie Drazba in 4th as both crossed in 2:26. They were trailed closely by Clay-Battelle's Alec Statler, Charleston Catholic's Marcus Black and Cade who all went through in 2:27-28. At the end of three laps, Childers held a slight lead over Shaffer and Moore, who were slightly ahead of Drazba as the group came through in 3:38-39. The foursome had generated about a 4 second gap on Black and Statler. The fourth lap saw Childers start to pull away. He came through in 4:51 and had generated a 3 second gap on Shaffer and Moore. Drazba had fallen an additional 4 seconds back. Childers continued to extend his lead on the 5th lap. The lead was up to 6 seconds as he crossed in 6:04. Shaffer started to get away from Moore, generating a 3 second gap. Black pulled even with Drazba 11 seconds back. On lap 6, Childers stretched his lead to 11 seconds. Shaffer continued to hold a 3 second lead over Moore. Black moved in front of Drazba. On the 7th lap, Childers' lead grew to 14 seconds. Shaffer extended his lead over Moore to 6 seconds. Black pulled away from Drazba. On the final lap, Childers cruised to the win in 9:47.53, taking the win by over 14 seconds. Shaffer easily held onto 2nd in 10:02.09, and Moore easily held onto 3rd in 10:12.93. Black easily held his 4th spot. Statler made the pass on Drazba early in lap 8 to move into 5th, and Drazba held onto 6th. Only the front 3 went under 10:15.

100 Meter High Hurdles
Williamstown's Dylan McNutt ran a clean race and easily won the event in 15.58. Doddridge's Daniel Plaugher overcame an early clubbed hurdle to just nip East Hardy's George Maddox and St. Marys' Brett Wright for 2nd. The trio were separated by just 0.02. The front four were all 15.90 or better. All six placers were under 16.40.

300 Meter Intermediate Hurdles
East Hardy's George Maddox ran aggressive from the gun. Doddridge's Daniel Plaugher had made the pass heading into the last hurdle but stuttered it, allowing Maddox to get back by for the 0.04 win, 40.28 to 40.32. Williamstown's Dylan McNutt ran a 41.19 for a solid 3rd. Cameron's Jared Dunn and Bishop Donahue's Tyler Zahnow were under 43 seconds.

4x100 Meter Relay
Doddridge took the win as a strong anchor leg by Cory Aichele got them past Williamstown by 0.14. Doddridge was the only team under 46 seconds. Williamstown held off Valley Wetzel and a strong run by Calhoun from the first heat. Those three were separated by just 0.10. 4x200 Meter Relay
Charleston Catholic took the win by 0.60 over Doddridge, who got by Williamstown down the stretch to take 2nd by 0.16. Those three teams were under 1:35. No one else was under 1:36. Only Valley Wetzel from the 1st heat was under 1:37. One of my predicted placers was disqualified.

4x400 Meter Relay
Pocahontas used a strong anchor leg from Tanner Graham to win by over 2 seconds. Charleston Catholic pulled out a 2nd place finish from the 1st heat. Williamstown edged out Doddridge by just 0.12 for 3rd with Doddridge's run coming in the 1st heat. Only Pocahontas and Charleston Catholic ran 3:35.19 and 3:37.38, respectively. No one else ran under 3:42. St. Marys ran fast enough to get 2nd place but was disqualified for running outside their lane on the first leg.

4x800 Meter Relay
Buffalo received a 2:03 lead leg from Dylan Rich and never trailed after that. Buffalo continued to extend their lead throughout the race and went on to win by over 6 seconds. St. Marys used a 2:03 anchor leg from Jordan Whitehair to get by Doddridge for 2nd. Buffalo ran a 8:23.14. St. Marys made it in under 8:30. Doddridge made it in under 8:33. Charleston Catholic ran 8:39.31 to take 4th. No one else was under 8:50.

Shuttle Hurdle Relay
Doddridge took the lead on a stellar 2nd leg from Dillon Muhly-Alexander and never relented that lead in taking the win by over 1.2 seconds. Richwood and East Hardy scored 2nd and 3rd place finishes, respectively from the 3rd heat. Buffalo scored a 4th. Doddridge was the only team under 1:02. The front four were all under 1:03.

High Jump
Gilmer's Anthony Aviles sailed over a State Meet Record 6'5.25 to take the win. He was the only jumper to go higher than 6'0. 4 other jumpers cleared 6'0.

Charleston Catholic's Keiffer Reed and Gilmer's Cam Kinder each cleared 13'6 with Reed taking the win on the tie-breaker. Wheeling Central's Daniel Scott and Williamstown's Alex Marchetti cleared 13'0 to tie for 3rd. All placers cleared at least 12'0.

East Hardy's Joshua Parker was the only jumper to go past 21'0 with his leap of 21'2.25. Only Charleston Catholic's John-Paul Tupta joined him over 20'0. 8 jumpers went past 19'0.

St. Marys' Hayden Ullman threw 51'1.75 to take the win by over a foot. Valley Wetzel's Spencer Mason threw 50'0 for 2nd. Wheeling Central's Aaron Schneid threw 49'5.50 for 3rd. Pocahontas' Evan Rose eclipsed 47'0 in taking 4th.

Wheeling Central's Aaron Schneid repeated as discus champion with his toss of 143'5. Only Pocahontas' Evan Rose was able to join him at over 140'0. Only Valley Wetzel's Spencer Mason threw over 130' among the remaining field. Only the top 3 threw further than 125'.
